How does the Trust Rank work?

The Trust Rank is a proprietary formula that was developed to rank online casinos, online poker sites, online sportsbooks, online bingo sites and online slots. By reviewing each site measured against 35 independent criteria, an overall score is produced that is know as that site's "Trust Rank".

In the unregulated online gambling industry the biggest issue for consumers is with trust. With trust comes the assurance that your personal information is safe, the games you are playing are fair, and your winnings are paid promptly and without question. Without striking a relationship with an online casino first, it becomes difficult to know who to trust. PlayersJet has done the research for you to help you decide where to gamble your money online. In addition to the Trust Rank, each site has been provided with player reviews so that people with first-hand experience with an online casino, poker rooom, sportsbook, bingo or slot site can share that experience with others.

How was your methodology developed?

The Trust Rank is a formula that was developed by internet professionals with backgrounds in web site usability, online marketing and internet technology. Within any industry, you can group web sites together to find best and worst practices for dealing with customers. This is true for internet retailers, search engines, news providers, etc.

PlayersJet has grouped the online gambling industry together into one database for the purpose of determine who is best positioned for being trusted by online players. The online gambling industry has several ways to prove they are credible, from where they are licensed, to their affiliations with independent auditors and 3rd party industry watch dogs. In addition to this data, the Trust Rank also takes into consideration the ease with which a player can contact a casino operator, the construction of their web site, and the professional relationships they have with their affiliates (affiliates are marketers with web sites that link to online casinos).

What is a good Trust Rank score?

Think of the Trust Rank as a report card for online casinos, poker rooms, sportsbooks, bingo and slot sites. Scoring 90 or above in school means you are an A student, and in the case of an online casino, scoring above 90 means they have been deemed the most reputable in their industry. As a rule of thumb, the following grade scale should be adhered to when considering a casino, poker room, sportsbook, bingo or slot site:

A 90 - 100 These are without question the most trustable sites
B 80 - 90 A good score, but missing a few pieces to be fully trusted
C 70 - 80 Getting by and can be trusted for the most part
D 60 - 70 Use caution with these sites, they are barely passing
F 0 - 60 Avoid these sites without further compelling evidence

What are the most important aspects to consider before choosing a casino?

Take a look at who they are affiliated with. Sites such as eCOGRA and the Interactive Gaming Council are reputable watchdogs for the industry. Also make sure that you can contact the operator should you have a problem. The best operators provide 24/7 customer support via toll free phone numbers and online help. Also, check their reviews on PlayersJet to see if anyone else has had issues with the casino.

Which casinos should I avoid?

PlayersJet recommends avoiding those online casinos, poker rooms, sportsbooks, bingo and slot sites that don't provide much information about themselves. Be especially cautious with sites that don't list their phone number and only provide an email (or worse yet only an online form). When you have an issue, you want to know that you can pick up the phone and talk to someone. Because the online gambling industry is unregulated, avoid sites that don't have any 3rd party affiliations to vouch for their credibility. Also, check their reviews on PlayersJet to see if anyone else has had problems with the casino.

How can a site achieve a score of 100, but not have received 100% in each of the 5 sections?

Within the 35 criteria used in the Trust Rank, it is important to note that no online casino, poker room, sportsbook, bingo or slot site has completely met every criteria. An operator only needs to cross a pre-determined threshold in order to achieve a score of 100. It is also possible to earn extra credit (if they are publicly traded, have an online counterpart, etc.) which can push a site over 100.

With that said, the Trust Rank is a very structured and stringent measure of an online casino, poker room, sportsbook, bingo or slot site. Less than 5% of the sites reviewed receive a perfect score from PlayersJet. The full list of sites who have made it above the threshold of 100 are shown with a "Players 100" seal.
